Birthday Trip - Portugal

To celebrate year 33, I chose Portugal as my destination!  The Algarve has been on my list for quite sometime now and who wouldn't want to explore one of Europe's oldest capital cities.

We spent the first couple days in Lisbon playing tourist.  Seeing St George's Castle, the LX factory, riding Tram 28, seeing the Praca do Comercio, eating at the Time Out Market, taking too many photos of the April 25th Bridge and taking a sunset cruise minus the sunset.  We also experienced some nightlife as we stumbled upon Pink Street and hit the clubs down by the waterfront and stayed out until five in the morning.  We also walked by some famous landmarks such as Belem Tower, the Santa Justa Lift, Monument of the Discoveries and the MAAT museum which is a gorgeous piece of architecture.   I loved every meal I had including their famous codfish. The bread and wine were amazing and I discovered that green wine is a thing there.  A little too sweet for me but not bad.

Then we spent the weekend in Lagos which was about a four hour train ride south.  Absolutely stunning!  I couldn't take enough photos.  I loved the dramatic coastline and the walkways along the cliffs.  The weather was so perfect.  We also took a speedboat over to see the famous Benagil Cave.  Wish we could have gotten off the boat.

I do believe that Portugal is a return country for me as I did not get to check off everything on my Lisbon and Algarve bucket list.  I would also like to explore other cities and coastal towns.  Here are the photos...enjoy!

Next trip is in September to Argentina!
