Last weekend, my dad flew down from North Carolina for a mini vacation here in south Florida. I gave him the grand tour of Sarasota, seeing Lido Beach, downtown, Anna Maria Island and Siesta Key. We had a great time exploring the city and I can't wait for dad to come back! Here are a couple shots from the weekend...

Sanibel Island
My mom and step dad spent their anniversary in Sanibel Island this year. Since Sanibel is only two hours south of me, I decided to visit them. I really enjoyed experiencing a place I've never been before. Sanibel doesn't have beaches that you're used to seeing in Florida, more like coves almost. What Sanibel is known for is shelling. We spent half a day just looking for shells and I have to say I found quite a few keepers. One of the shells had an octopus in it which I made my step dad put back in the ocean. The only down side to Sanibel in my opinion was the food. Maybe it was where we ate or what I ordered but I was not impressed. Overall I had a great time but I don't really care to visit again. One and done. Here are the images...

Orange Cat
Everyday I pass this gorgeous face and I wanted to share her with the rest of the internet. She's a stray cat that has lived in the apartment complex for about five years according to my neighbor who feeds her. She doesn't have a name but she is the nicest stray you'll ever come across. She brightens my day and is very photogenic...
The Ringling Museum Part 2
The Circus section of the museum was way more exciting. Getting to see all the acts, how things worked and even how the performers lived on trains while traveling. This was definitely worth the five dollars I paid to get in. Normally the museum is 25 for the day but if you have a student ID, you save 20 bucks! If you're in the Sarasota area, I really recommend this spot especially for students. Here are some photos....
The Ringling Museum
I've been in Sarasota, FL for about seven months now so it was about time I visited the Ringling Museum. Half of the museum is the history of the Ringling Brothers and their circus acts. And the other half was Mr. Ringling's personal art collection and or favorite pieces to my knowledge. The location of this museum is one of the best parts in my opinion because it sits right on the Sarasota Bay. After a long day of learning about the circus, you can relax right by the water for amazing views. The art museum section was very basic to me, as in I've seen this before and looks like every other art museum so I wasn't much impressed. The section that I was most interested in was the modern art collection which of course was the only section you couldn't photograph. Sadly I don't have any images from that collection. I did manage however to get a few good shots of the rest of the museum...
